Who Are You People?
I know, we’re all still sad that we can’t go to BlogHer’09. But, BlogHer@Home is going to be an AWESOME party!!
I was reading chancesmommy’s post about why she can’t make BlogHer’09 and it got me thinking… There are so many reasons people can’t make the conference – what’s yours?
Personally? There’s just still a few to many things (with accompanying Dr’s visits) going on with my 2yr old for me to be able to leave right now. But I am planning on going next year (already putting my pennies aside to start saving for it).
So… I want to hear from you guys. Why aren’t you going to BlogHer’09 (we’re happy you’re not, because it gives us more people to party with, but still…). And are you planning on going to next year? Already started saving?

I’m way late to the list this year to go so it wasn’t even an option BUT, next year I’m totally going to try.
I’m usually a social recluse as well so partying at home is a great thing for someone who is scared of the outside…LOL

Originally we were going to Chicago for a family vacation. Hubby was cool with it and I would get to BlogHer.

Then Disney World started their 4/3 deals and it was too much to pass by. In December we booked our trip to Disney and went in May. This was our first family vacation with the boys. Here is my post about switching our plans:

Taking your kid to Disney World! OMG, what an awesome reason to be missing BlogHer. I hope you guys had an great time meeting Mickey Mouse!
I’ll write mine tomorrow. Well, kind of. I don’t know! I can’t now that I think of it. My husband’s grandparents read the blog and the reason we can’t attend is because of their 50th wedding anniversary surprise party.
So, that’s why I can’t go. But I can’t WRITE ABOUT IT on my blog so everyone just thinks I’m stiffing BlogHer. I’m not! I have to surprise old people! Cute old people! Who are still in love!

It was a rough year financially, so that was a big factor.
But more than anything else, I’ve never traveled alone. Never flown alone, never stayed in a hotel alone, etc.
I would get lost. Or no one would talk to me and I would be lonely. Or some other anti-social phobia would kick in and it would be sad. Staying at home with you guys works out well for me.
And maybe I’ll go next year. Maybe.

Look at it this way… you can get to know all us nutjobs virtually this year and then come next year, when we all meet up at BlogHer, we’ll all be stalking you by then and you won’t be lonely anymore. Scared maybe, but not lonely ;-)

I was supposed to go…I kind of got permission from hubby. Then he started acting all stupid about it so I exchanged my BlogHer trip for a weekend away to Vegas with him.
THEN…he and his family planned a big family vacation to Milwaukee for the SAME week as BlogHer. I will be TWO HOURS away.
I’m going next year if I have to run away from home to do it.

I guess I have a couple of reasons. Primarily I am not going to blogher as we are heading up the Canada for our annual two week summer vacation to visit the fam.
However, truthfully I’m not sure I would have gone anyway. I’m a teeny, weeny bit shy (ok, well really shy) and I don’t think I could have ever gotten up the guts to go. I’m hoping to try to go next year. I think it would be an amazing experience that I shouldn’t let my shyness get in the way of.

Ontario. My family lives in Southern Ontario about an hour west of Toronto. And my husband’s family lives further north on Lake Huron. At least I’ll still be having a great time while missing Blogher :)

I so badly wish I could go. I am just 3 hours from Chicago. But sadly, money is so tight these days, I just cannot afford it. So glad you are doing the BlogHer@home party so I can still join in all the fun!

So I had a ticket, bought on ChildsPlayx2′s lovely auction, had a hotel reservation, and had arranged the days and then…my husband announced he is going to Stockholm for work (with a shit-eating grin on his face). The trips have overlapping weekends so I was SOL.
I only organized my trip after he told me he didn’t want to go to Stockholm, preferring Hiroshima in November instead (yeah, whatever). So I sold my ticket to kdiddy, delora has my hotel room, and I’ll be at home. Trying not to be miserable.
Somebody go have lunch at RL for me. They make a BLT to die for.

Totally not whiny. I’d be so mad and he’d be sleeping on the couch until BlogHer was over.
Sucks that it didn’t work out for you. ((HUGS)).
Next year we’ll have a room ready and waiting for you.
I knew way back when murmurings of BlogHer first started that my DH would be TDY that weekend. No BlogHer for me this year. I probably won’t get to go while he’s in this current job because of his summer TDY times. Maybe when the next duty assignment comes along.
